Katakomby v Klatovech (Catacombs in Klatovy) – that is how crypts under the Jesuit church in Klatovy are called today. They were built as a part of the church and served as a burial ground for members of the Jesuit order and its benefactors. The bodies were buried on top of wood-shavings in oak coffins and covered in hops. The bodies were gradually dried through the impact of air brought to the crypts through a sophisticated system of air canals --natural mummification – so that today their weight is about 8 – 10 kg.
