The Immured Daughters at Herštejn Castle

The castle was founded by Bušek II of Velhartice in the first half of the 14th century. The story goes that when the Bavarians came to the castle and he had to move to the fortress in nearby Lomec, he had his three daughters and all his treasures immured in the castle tower. When the Bavarian army conquered the castle, no one remembered the walled girls and they suffered a cruel death. The tower has been called the Maiden Tower ever since.
