The Rokycany Observatory

You will find the observatory on Osecký Hill on the northern outskirts of Rokycany. Various astronomical equipment is available, from portable small telescopes to a large telescope in a dome with a 508 mm diameter main mirror. With these instruments, it is possible to observe the night sky (the Moon, planets, star clusters, galaxies, nebulae). During the day, sunspots can be observed. Here, you can learn a lot of interesting facts about each of the phenomena.

The Bridge in Bělá nad Radbuzou

The most important monument of the small town of Bělá nad Radbuzou in the Upper Palatinate Forest is the former road bridge over the Radbuza River. Because of its importance and unusual appearance, this bridge is popular with many tourists and has even become part of the the town’s coat of arms.

The Museum of Pine Pitch Collecting

In the gamekeeper’s lodge in Lomany near Plasy, there is a museum dedicated to the extraction of pitch, which introduces the visitor to the tools and containers needed for the collecting, guides them through period photographs and other exhibits that remind the history of forestry in the region. The exhibition is complemented by hunting trophies.

The Hydroelectric Power Plant Černé jezero (Black Lake)

Who would expect that a small hydroelectric power plant has been built right next to Černé jezero (Black Lake)? This source of electricity can be found between Černé jezero and the Pod Černým jezerem water reservoir near the village of Hamry. Moreover, it is the first pumped storage hydroelectric power plant in Bohemia.
