Hauswald Chapel near Srní

As early as 1820, the faithful built the first chapel here and began to celebrate pilgrimage masses. Thanks to the reports on cases of miraculous healing, pilgrims from all over Europe came to these chapels. The magical place, which is located about 3 kilometres south of Srní near the Vchynice-Tetov Canal, can be reached by marked hiking trails. The starting point is the Information Centre in Srní; from there, follow the blue-marked hiking trail for about 2.5 kilometres and then follow the green-marked trail for 600 metres.

You will come to a place that radiates a strong positive energy, where it is said that dozens of miracles have happened in the past. During the time of the previous regime everything here was destroyed and only brought back to life in 2006. The main credit for the reconstruction of this magical place goes to the chairman of the civic association Karel Klostermann – spisovatel Šumavy.

Today, the ground plans of the original buildings, specifically all three chapels, are highlighted along the marked path. The water from the spring, which according to legend is miraculous, is brought to them in a flume. The flume is placed on 59 wandering stones, which are supposed to represent the beads on the Rosary.
